The Journey of Resilience – From Ethiopia to CBOW

I was born in Sewa, Oromia, Ethiopia, but my family’s roots trace back to the Amhara region. Over a century ago, my grandparents moved to western Ethiopia, where my parents built a life—only to lose everything due to their ethnic identity. My father, Grazmach Abiye Zewolde, and my mother, Minasseh Bitew, valued education and hard work, raising eight sons and two daughters. Though I was born as Bogale Tamiru, I later became known as Tadele Shibeshi when I was raised by my aunt in Ghimbi.

This decision shaped my future, giving me access to education and early work experience that instilled discipline and financial responsibility. I helped my uncle, a coffee merchant, and assisted in legal work at the district court. These formative years prepared me for the challenges ahead.

From Ethiopian Navy to Education Pioneer

At 16, I was unexpectedly recruited into the Ethiopian Navy, excelling in physics, math, and English. My military service exposed me to the harsh realities of war, and after being discharged, I sought a new path in education. I played a crucial role in founding Unity University, Royal University College, and Queen’s College, institutions that provided scholarships to thousands of students. However, betrayal and political challenges forced me out, leaving me with only 30,000 birr.

In 2014, ethnic conflict devastated my family. My parents, despite being born and raised in Oromia, lost everything due to their Amhara identity. My father passed away heartbroken, my family was displaced, and I lost my final business in Ethiopia. This period plunged me into deep depression, but with faith and my wife’s support, I persevered.

Starting Over in the U.S. – The Birth of CBOW

Relocating to the U.S., I rebuilt my life from scratch. I studied English, trained as a Computer Support Technician, and later became a CNC machine operator. Despite my skills, stable opportunities were limited. To support my family, I became an Uber driver, completing 28,000+ five-star rides. Customers loved my curated playlists and unique lighting setup, sparking the idea for Chrome Beats On Wheels (CBOW)—a luxury entertainment experience for riders.

CBOW is more than just a business; it’s a movement that enhances luxury rides with curated music, synchronized lighting, and future AI integration. My passion for education and innovation continues through CBOW, transforming everyday journeys into unforgettable experiences.

Today, my four children receive full scholarships, a testament to the power of giving and perseverance. My journey—from a young boy in Ethiopia to an innovator in the U.S.—is far from over. CBOW is just the beginning.
